Hi,

Just wondering if anyone would comment on this school? Prefer personal experience to gossip!

One poster said they have a bad rep, but his post was three years old.

Also, can anyone tell me if my understanding of this is correct: without a degree, you can't secure a contract of more than 3 months? I have a CELTA and experience but haven't finished my degree (argghh!).

hi cesca, I'm also interested in 3 month summer school contract w/ apollo in hanoi. I also saw 2003 comment on them being a rip off ( charging more than 10% tax, but further research leads me to believe that is the minimal tax rate and that VN has progressive tax system like Oz so that the more you make the higher the rate of tax; also that they are money making machine w/ little interest in students or teachers - so what else is new?- I note that VN wages for teachers are quite high U$15 per hr, so the lower wages offered by apollo might reflect lower qualifications required of teachers) also teachers visa requirements are supposed to be responsibility of school, not of teachers. I saw somewhere on this forum that contracts under 3 months don't need degree, I haven't got one and apollo are still offering me the job, they took a while to get back to me so they might be having trouble finding teachers. Finally I note that almost every contributer to this VN forum is a Yank (no offence, sic) and I'm under the impression that visa requirements for our trans-Pacific cousins are stricter than for the Uc Da Loi from downunder. Any info you can give me about apolloedutrain summer camp would be much appreciated, the sooner the better!
