Hahahahahahah! Yeah! Keith keep it coming! You've got me in stitches!

Well folks it looks like he'll be leaving our poor little island tomorrow so we might have to say goodbye to all this entertainment. Come back anytime Keith, and bestow upon us your almighty wisdom about Japan! Too bad you just couldn't hack it here. It's ok, you're far too good for us anyway. We know.

Yeah kdynamic I couldn't hack it. It's just so f%cking hard! A place where anyone with a pulse can get a job.... which was probably the only qualification you had when your parents paid your way over here just to get your fat ass out of the house and off welfare. I'm sure your friends back in the trailer park are envious of all that you've achieved. Keep hacking away! Laughing

See ya Keith Laughing .

Yes Paul, not using the language one is supposed to be teaching has always struck me as counterproductive. Some Japanese teachers have told me that because they teach grammar classes, it's not a language class Rolling Eyes !

I didn't know about the Japanese paranoia concerning crime and police. I guess I should have made a point in asking potential employers about the Japanese attitude to charges arising out of mistaken identy situations huh?

Well, Keith, as the self-proclaimed expert on intercultural communication, don't you think that's one of those things you should already know? I mean, it's not like Japan is the only country in the world that holds such views.

Speaking of which, enjoy your time in that bastion of free speech otherwise known as the Middle East.

Ok, I'm trying to think of a nice way to say this. The rest of you are responding to this guy because....? In this case I think the best behavior management technique we can use is extinction.
I would really like to hear what people have to say about bilingualism etc. but it's exhausting to trudge through the flaming posts.

Instead of kvetching at us, why don't you direct the discussion where you want it to go? Do you have a comment or a question about bilingualism? You commenting on us commenting on keith's idiocy is only more distraction..... (I am saying this because I agree it would be better if the discussion were back on track)

Flame wars (which can be entertaining in their own way) are just about the only way that threads get out to 9 pages. If you want focused discussion, it would probably be better to start a new thread.

Don't count all responses as stupid. Burning your bridges can be detrimental, and moreover, to have spent only a year here is not very long, but it could have led to better things than mere eikaiwa.

Part of Keith's entertainment value was the fact that (if he was telling the truth) he barely lasted a month. Or was it less?

Well, I didn't post on the thread because I don't know a lot about bilingualism and others (who are bilingual or have children who are bilingual) are certainly more qualified to speak and I was learning a lot from what they said. Maybe I spoke up for no reason. Maybe they have nothing left to say. I'll probably never get to know.
