I have a Vietnamese student who is pg and I want to buy a book online to use in class. My preference is one I can get in the US to save on credit card fees but I'm open to any recent book that someone can recommend. She is about fourth or fifth grade level in her English. She has a friend who knows much less English who is also Vietnamese and pg so a good book in that language that corresponds to American medical practices would also be helpful.

This might be worth a look: What To Do When You're Having a Baby

Quote:
"What To Do When You're Having a Baby" was written to help women have healthy babies. The book uses everyday language and over 150 illustrations to explain every aspect of pregnancy, beginning with what a woman should do to get her body ready for pregnancy. The book tells about the early signs of pregnancy and the things women should and should not do while they are pregnant. There's a section in the book devoted to exercise and healthy eating during pregnancy. The book tells women in plain language about common discomforts they may experience, such as backache and heartburn, and offers practical tips for things they can do to feel better. The book gives a list of warning signs that are not normal and tells women to call their doctor if they have any of these signs.

The amazing thing about this particular book

is that it's also available in Vietnamese. Shocked

Just follow the online ordering instructions!

The publisher is based in California, fyi.

no smart-alek comments please.

A good book is What to Expect When You're Expecting. Its divided into common questions and answers covering each month. It also discusses nutrition, high risk pregnancies and other medical situations. I read it cover to cover (a couple of times) when I was pregnant. There is a whole series for the first year, toddler years etc.

Thanks for the help. I ordered the English version, used, from amazon and the Vietnamese version from the website. I discovered the languages aren't listed until you go to checkout. I hope my library will want to buy copies for their own use after seeing mine. They have the Spanish version.

looks like two males to me (where's the long hair?)

Whenever I have mentioned the pg word to my students they clam up. I have tried to ask them about health and hygiene classes they have studied but never get a satisfactory reply. Why??

Only marginally less masculine than the two Beethoven wannabes she is posing alongside!

Women with short hair really don't do it for me unless they look like Claire Grogan in her Altered Images days!

Give me a sultry long haired Sade any day of the week!!
