So 2 days ago I had my last class for the easter course I was teaching. They wrote an essay except for the lazy asses who diddn't...I digress. So after break the students tell me to look at the clock and I find they have screwed with it and my troll doll is missing. I lift up the clock to fix it when outcomes my troll and several pieces of paper. Turns out they wrote "to the best teacher in the world" of 15 students about 13 signed. Others who signed the paper gave me other pieces of paper with notes.
Then at the bus station the French leaders Pauline and Florence asked me if I wanted to adress my students-they were all there the other class and mine. I told them that I knew they would be great English speakers and I enjoyed meeting them. They applauded and as I left some of them were high fiving me-not just my students the other students wanted to high 5 me.
All and all it was very emotional very moving. Yes the kids were crazy and damn sometimes irritating but I am going to miss those guys... |

That is awesome. Thanks for sharing, it's nice to hear about the good stuff, all too often I think we dwell on the negative and it's moments like that that make it all worthwhile.

To be honest I was already to post a totally different topic about how I found the school to be disorganised and how stressed I was...and then my students go and do something that really put it in perspective and reminded me why I love teaching. Sometimes I forget that teaching is not all about disiplin or test scores its about those moments when you know you have made a connection. The notes those kids wrote me although not the best english were beautiful none the less and I was truely honored. |
