I'm attempting to buy a book over the internet and need to arrange a bank transfer. Unfortunately I don't have a clue how to manage this, and as much as I'm sure the staff at my local branch of Fukuoka Bank would like to help, I'm not looking forward to giving it a try.

Does anyone know what I need to do? Failing that, does anyone know the Japanese for 'bank transfer'? My dictionary isn't very clear.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

In case you're wondering I'm trying to get the second volume of Heisig's 'Remembering the Kanji".

It's called a furokomi and it is pretty simple as long as you have all the info about where to send the money.

You can pay COD through amazon.co.jp too. Might be the simpliest way.

Actually "furikomi" not "furokomi". I wonder if an international transfer has a different word though.

Furikomi is a transfer electronically of money between one bank and another such as a direct credit

If you want to send money overseas its usually an electronic remittance e.g. by telegraph. When I go to the bank I will ask for a "kokusai sokin" (Kanji for international-send-money)

Does anyone have a link to the daily bank exchange rates in Japan? I want to compare them to Lloyds. The Post office gives a terrible rate, almost 6 yen higher than at Lloyds.
