Isn't that the accrediting body founded by one of the online TEFL providers? I don't remember, but aren't they affiliated with i to i or somebody?

In general, accreditation is worth whatever people will believe it's worth. I would be uneasy about an accrediting body that many haven't heard of.

That's why CELTA (Cambridge University) and Trinity TESOL (Trinity college, which I'm told pertains to Oxford) are well respected. They are affiliated, however loosely, with universities everybody has heard of.

The SIT TESOL cert, which the org I'm at will soon be offering, is less well known- but can still be traced directly and easily to an accredited US university, with a good rep in fields related to education.

College of Teachers? Means relatively little to me. Maybe do a websearch, and see exactly what it is that they accredit. Only TEFL certs? Probably a warning sign. Only the particular TEFL cert you're considering? BIG warning sign.

Best,
Justin

No, they have nothing to do with I TO I. They accred other coures, not just TEFL.

I emailed about 20 schools in Poland and they recognise/accept it. Hoorah

Just wondering if anybody else has heard of it. tis all

God Bless.

Very Happy

The College of Teachers is the third major school in distance ed in the UK, I believe. If this is the same organization then it's just as good as the CELTA or Trinity.

I've heard that ACTDEC gives the College of Teacher's cert if you have high enough scores, can anyone confirm that?

I got a College of Teachers certificate from INTESOL and I'd like to wipe my a$$ with that certificate now.

How come?

Did schools accept it?

As far as Poland is concerned they accepted/recognised it.

Hi Paul, I have absolutely no idea about the TESL market in Poland. I did my INTESOL by distance while I worked in Korea. I wouldn't do this if I had no experience. If you're just looking for a piece of paper to get a job, then I think INTESOL should be ok for most places. I found the program was very heavy on technical grammar and very light on teaching strategies. It's certainly not a scam and would probably seem the same as a TESL International certificate. However, I think a CELTA holds more weight.
