I'm planning on doing an internship in Japan this summer with a Coop and I'm interested in trying to make some contacts with organic farmers. I was talking about this with a friend and they mentioned WOOF as a good thing to look into. After checking a few websites I've gotten a bit more interested. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with WOOF and/or if anyone knows about possible teaching positions also available.

Thanks for your comments.

You mean WWOOF - Willing Workers On Organic Farms?

It's an excellent outfit.
Very suitable if you're travelling with more time than money, and a guarantee to get you some excellent experiences.

I did some work through WWOOF in Australia a few years back, and once near Barcelona for 3 months.

I like the fact that you've got a choice in workplace, you're on your own, it's almost for free, and you are responsible for how long you want to stay.

Japan seems to me a cool place to try it out. I know they got some farms there, but not too many. Sometimes they're not farms btw, but just families with a company that is somehow related to organic produce. I've done painting, built a toilet, built a septic tank as well, fed worms (excellent!), chopped lots of wood, drove a tractor in a gulley (unintentionally), etc etc. Oh yeah, and met lots of girls in the process. Cool

Absolutely two thumbs up,

Dajiang
