If someone leaves their job without another one lined up is their work visa still valid? My fiancee is working in Japan and has a valid work visa. I am on a tourist Visa. Thus, if I find a job in another prefecture, can she leave her employer before getting a new job?
Thanks for the help, as I know people are probably tired of visa issues! |

If she has a valid work visa she can work on that visa until it expires. if she wishes to renew it she will need a new sponsor. However its advisable that she lines up a job before she hands in her notice as she may not find one after she actually leaves her job and moves to where ever you are going to be. She would be advised to have sufficient savings in case it takes her a month or two to find work.
If you are on a tourist visa you are not supposed to be working at all and are working illegally (unless you are an American and your work visa is being processed as we speak) and as her fiance her visa has nothing to do with you and your visa is not tied to hers. If you are married at least you can get a dependents visa which allows you to work part time. |
