Hello! This is my first post on this forum though I have lurked on here for a while. I'm graduating from college soon and am going through the requisite "what to do with the rest of my life" crisis... it seems like many of the people on here feel drawn to EFL teaching for the same reasons I am: keen interest in other cultures and ways of living, wanting to challenge stereotypes and prejudices, desire to travel. However, as I have extensively researched teaching english overseas, I'm not entirely convinced it's exactly what I'm looking for. So I have started a quest to find other opportunities out there that fit the bill for satisfying my passion for increasing cultural relativism and understanding others! I tried branching out into volunteer rather than paid English teaching, internships, and work experience abroad. I thought I'd share links to some Ive found; perhaps it may help someone, or perhaps many of you already know about these opportunities... in any case, they provide some good opportunities for networking and learning whats out there. A lot of them are geared towards 20-something American citizens, but some are for those older and with relevant and extensive work experience.

Saint, are you serving up lunch with that cold bucket of water?
Thanks for the list OP. You can delay the onset of the real world as long as you wish. |

I just had a long day in the not so real world. I'm currently interning at a museum in Toronto and it's not the cushy gig I hoped it would be. I long for the day when I will be in Margaritaville (less than two months). |
