I don't know about Poland, but I estimate a BA in any field puts you in front of at least 50% of TEFLers in the world. I'm not saying it makes you a better teacher, cause I've seen people without one do just fine. |

How do you know you want to spend the rest of your life TEFLing when you have not even started? |

I rarely see adverts saying what your BA should be in, just to have one.
It is masters degrees where they state: applied linguistics, TESOL or related degree. |

I'm with Gordon, most jobs just want a BA in anything (though I have no experience with Poland) and in some jobs a background in applied criminology would come in quiet handy! Both in working with students, but also in dealing with your co-workers! |

...or owners. I've had a couple of crooks, maybe I would have noticed their scams sooner. |

A lot of countries require TEFL workers to possess a BA just for Working Visa regulations sake. |

Paul, you're trolling again. Your questions have been answered over and over. Here is a question for you: why are you studying 'psychology,' when your sole interest is English teaching? Is this a trend? Here in Poland this is number one major in college. Seriously. Makes me wonder about the future of this country. My students assure me that it has something to do with marketing, but then why not just study business? My students have no answers. Do you?
BTW, you will have to finish your studies if you expect to work in Poland. Your profs might not appreciate you asking the same question three or four times over. |

Hi Pollux,
Business bores me. I'm choosing Criminology with Psychology because it interests me and since the BA can be in anything it wont be a problem.
I just wanted to make DOUBLE SURE with ppl on this forum since they have been there and done it and got the T-SHIRT that the BA degree CAN be in anything.
What bothers me is, is that they usually ask for the BA for visa reasons yet im a EU citizen therefore do not require a BA. It is like jumping through hoops for the fun of it.
I surpose I should get the BA anyway as a safety net, plus you probably SHOULD have one I surpose (before anyone says that). |

Pollux, same can be said for the UK with students doing media studies degree and dance degrees. What future for the UK?
Dont worry I have pretty much asked every question under the sun about TEFL.
I'm done.
and cheers for the TEFLers that have answered my questions
much appreciated. |
