Hello all. I'm moving to Brazil in June to teach, and am wondering how people deal with their money/banking if they don't have work permits, and hence can't get a bank account. I'm just wondering if there are any steps I can take before I leave Canada to make my money dealings easier once I arrive in Brazil.
Thanks in advance. |

Hi. I posted a response to your question about Fortaleza recently. I think you have to have a CPF (Brazilian ID card) to open an account, but I'm not sure. Many transactions are done with cash here, so you might be able to get by for a while. There are several HSBC locations here. They are an international bank. Don't know if they are any different, but you may give them a call in the U.S. to see if they know how it works in Brazil. If you would like any information about living in Fortaleza, send me a PM.
Good luck! |
