how did you all get your jobs?
it looks like a search on the net as well as the links in the sticky require you to be pretty much in Mex already, or else sign up to take a TEFL class...? |

I posted a note similar to yours, giving some of my background, and asking if anyone knew of any available jobs. One poster PM'ed with a contact for a uni job, and here I am. |

And to think some people pay to advertise!
mongrelcat,
It is possible to find a job from abroad. It is normal for people to want to meet you before hiring you, so a lot of places perfer not to hire teachers from abroad. It is also common for schools to get burned by teachers backing out at the last minute, so some don't hire abroad because they've had bad experiences with it. Some places though don't get many candidates wandering through and don't have much choice but to hire from abroad.
There are some other boards that seem to have more Latin American jobs on them and it is possible to have a job lined up before you arrive. But its also not difficult to find a job in country either.
Tell us about yourself, we just might be able to help! |

I got a prepa job in a university system by going to an overseas teaching fair back home. There are quite a few schools who hire this way. You can usually find the fairs put on by a faculity of education at a uni, but in that case it's likely you need a B.Ed as well. |
