Hi,
My boyfriend and I are interested in teaching english overseas, in Taiwan preferably within the next year. We both have BAs. Do you suggest we take a TESL course or can we find a job without being certified? If it is necessary that we get certified, are the online courses sufficient? (they are quite a bit cheaper)? Also, what are our chances of finding jobs if we just go there and then look around instead of trying to find a job before we go? Any info/advice/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Colleen |

It is not a requirement to have TESL / TEFL training in Taiwan. If you had a proper TEFL certificate it might improve your chances of finding a job, but so would a shirt and tie at the interview.
Unless you are considering TEFL as a long term career I wouldn't bother. |
