I would not be a DOS, nor a pimp nor a rentboy.

Do you rent in Istanbul, or do you own? If it's the former, you are indeed a rentboy. A rentboy with a DELTA.

And if you have the lowly, un-decently paid position that you claim at your school, you are a pimp as well. A foreign teacher pimp, but a pimp nonethless. Wink

I bet rentboys earn more than TEFLers and at least it is honest work.

I live in a very rent-boy'ish neighbourhood in Istanbul. I can stop one when he passes by and ask what his average monthly income is, if you like.

No thank you. It is rude to ask people you do not know well, what their income is.

That doesn't stop people in China asking me what my income is, not to mention my age (but the latter question was fired at me by kids, including those I did not even teach, at the primary school I taught at for a year, so I can forgive the sweet darlings!). However, I always give them the same answer: "It's a secre-e-e-e-e-e-t!"

I think that thrifty/31/Mark Loyd would make an excellent DOS. He would prove incorrect the negative stereotype of that position after only one week of excellent, honest, cooperative, sober, and thoughtful management. And he would finally get a salary increase!!
