If you think 30,000 pounds is "peanuts", you should definitely stay in lovely Istanbul.
As you have only given one job that pays that, and as that job is an elite independent school that can afford to turn down nineteen out of twenty qualified teachers, then your comment is rather meaningless.

Sunday evening and the sun goes down , the PC fires up and the ebate at Dave's rolls on relentlessly.

For Henry, do not worry on my account I gained Postgrad and QTS many years ago, my post was simply to underline the value and this need among our colleagues here online as a means to improving their professional qualifications from a 4-week initial training cert to becoming, what Stephen Jones so wonderfullly described as, qualified teachers.

For all of us,
A quick check in, reveals a little input is needed just to show there are jobs out there, but who receives them is beyond me, you only have to check the web pages instead of haranguing each other on here.

So DA da DA

My apologies, dear moderators, for copying from another website and thereby depriving Dave's of an advertising benefit. I have therefore removed the last 3 letters of the college name from the ad.

You know where to search for it folks, it is in the North East of England so you will save on rent for sure

From the jobcentre website

thrifty/31/Mark Loyd challenged readers to find "decent" jobs. The word decent doesn't mean "stellar." It simply means "adequate." But nothing is adequate for dear old thrifty/31/Mark Loyd with his Turkish wife and his children in tow. The booze bills alone must be staggering.

Where there is one job, there are others. Teachers with energy, ambition, qualifications, and skills will find them. thrifty/31/Mark Loyd will not.

A job paying 17,000 is pretty adequate for a young single person with a recent qualification.

You're not reading carefully enough, Will. If it quotes 'pro rata' it means it is a part-time or temporary job. As it's a one year job we can presume it is part-time only.

What quick info did you get other than a TEFL contract is not worth the paper it is printed on and that there is no punishment-just do a runner.

The punishment: spending all that energy and going to a far off land to discover great truths, i. e. next time do better research and have a backup plan.

Actually, some people spend energy to get all the right qualifications but then never use them. How and why is that?? Such people could be earning 40,000 and more in the UK by now.

A far off land-that is a bit dramatic. The young, willing female students and the beer have both been worth it.
