Hello...
After eighteen months TEFLing in Istanbul, I've been in London since October working in admin and not finding it terribly fulfilling. I wondered if there are weekend volunteer ESOL opportunities I could look into, to give me the feeling I'm doing something with my time other than shuffle papers and organise offices. Posts and PMs greatly appreciated... thanks. |

I'm sure there's been a post about this in the past, so try a search.
As London is such an expensive city you might want to look in to being paid, so contact your local further education college and/or local authority. Bear in mind a fair bit of this work is in the evening, which might fit in with your other commitments.
Or go to your local Turkish shop/cafe and put up a notice. Pick up a few Turkish bits of food, swap a few pleasantries in (however basic) Turkish and opportunities might arise that way. |

'facing the world' is a charity in london looking for volunteer teachers.
it would be pretty intense; they do reconstructive facial surgery for kids in third world countries, so you'd be looking at a hideous child for a few hours at a go.
google their name and tefl.com to get the job advert, or just ring them--number is on their website. website also has photos--good prep. |
