Yes, I am in Dalian now. I have lived in TO too, and the weather seems similar to me, although I only caught the tail end of winter here.
A 600ml bottle of beer costs between 2 and 6 yuan in a supermarket and 10-15 in a bar. There are many places to go out, there seems to be a fairly good night life going on.
Near Rockies there are lots of small restaurants and places where food is about 4-15 yuan for a meal. Coke costs about 2 yuan a can. I know where to get a good pizza too (no, not Pizza hut, although we have that too.....)There are other school in Dalian that pay 70 an hour (4000 minimum a month) so it may pay to shop around - I only teach about 16 hours a month and get 70 an hour. (I am studying though so could not work 25 hours.) There are also some well paid uni jobs, but only in some unis (the uni I study at offers crap deals). Feel free to PM me for more details. |

| And can I add that, while the beer is pricier than somewhere like WUhan, is's somewhat better... I was able to get a 6.5 RMB bottle of beer made by Han the Brewmaster in a supermarket in Dalian. Quite ironic as the same Han is based in Wuhan. Quite why I was able to get it in Dalian but not Wuhan is beyond me! |
