I did the EBC course in Madrid. I had to go back to the UK for quite a while, but now I'm back in Madrid ... yeah!! I noticed that EBC has a new job assistance scheme. Are there any EBCers out there that have used the new scheme as some of the locations look really good.

Scheme? That sounds suspicious. I assume you mean "model" or is there something we should know about?!

Speaking from personal experience I was interviewing on the last day of the course and working the week after. Nothing bad about that is there?

EBC now has other locations on their web like, Italy, Thailand, Argentina etc. I'd like to know if there are any EBCers who are also considering these new job locations?

I'm not in any great hurry to leave the great weather we're having in Madrid right now, also I need to finish off the intensives I'm teaching, but I'd like to travel in the future and these locations look great.

I did the buenos aires location, and I liked the city so I'd say it's worth checking out. There were teaching jobs but like anywhere else, don't expect to earn a lot of money teaching. and if you do decide on working in argentina and your spanish is castellano spanish, start getting used to "vos" instead of "tu" ... and if you can somehow avoid the use of the very castellano spanish word "coger", the better. As my Argentinian friends commented, in Spain they "coger" everything, "coger" the elevator, "coger" a cab .... and on and on and on ....

can't take credit for that, my Argentine girlfriends were the kind ones on this ... all that time I was happily living in madrid , thought of castellano spanish as the spanish for all spanish speaking countries. ... so i guess i can say that teaching english has some advantages .... not much $$$ but you get a job that allows you the flexibility to travel and see other countries, learn about their cultures and the peculiarities of language usage ... Wink

I see from the EBC site that they are now with Tefl International and that the job placement assistance can also be requested for their other locations. I called EBC and they told me that the job placement assistance that came with my Tefl program in Madrid now includes all the other cities listed on their site. I like Madrid and having started teaching here, I'm now more confident and I think the best way to go through these programs is to try to work in as many cities as you can. Even though I do not plan on making this my permanent career, I still think working in different countries will be a good experience. Any insights?

I know you are making a joke, but I would like to clarify the situation.

Am I advertising my sites on this forum? YES!!!!!! I don't pretend not to be.

The number one reason I try to answer people's questions to the best of my knowledge is because I hope they go to my Website(s). I love helping people (I even helped an old man cross the street today�no joke), but that alone is not enough to motivate me to come back to Dave's ESL cafe every single day to try to help people with their questions about living and working in Spain.

What is not permitted is ADVERTISING YOUR SITES DIRECTLY IN POSTS. That is Spam unless someone asks you a specific question, and your Web site(s) is directly relevant to the poster's question.

I contribute to forums without plugging my businesses in the posts, only in my signature. I try to offer poster's relevant answers from my over 5 years of experience living in Spain.

However, what IS suspicious is a while bunch of people on a board POSTING over and over again with positive comments about a particular business on a forum. I mean, come on...when it's obvious it's obvious.

They shoudl just HELP people will relevant answers, and put their business links in their signature like I do, don't you agree?

I am in BsAs and I want to move to Madrid for the Sept school year and EBC is helping me find work there. I see there are other cities to go to so if I get tired of Madrid, I'll let you know if they were able to help me out in these other places as well.

Hi all!

Ok, I made it - I'm in Madrid and boy is it HOT! - BSAS was freezing when I left last week so that's what I get with the change of hemispheres. I arrived Thursday morning , met up with EBC on Friday and I'm starting an intensive course from Aug 1- Sept 15, teaching a group of 7 advanced students about to start their last year of Engineering this fall. I will be teaching from 10-3, Monday to Thursday.

I was told that they were chosen to take part in an exchange work program. This program is being run by General Electric in San Jose CA and the Universidad de Complutense Facultad de Ingenieria in Madrid. I was told that these guys are the top guns, the graduating class' high fliers. Oh dear what a way to start my EFL teaching in Madrid. I'm a bit nervcous! Sad

Oh well, I guess I'm just anxious with everything going too fast. But I have taught for 1 year in BSAS so it shouldn't be too bad ....

I wasn't planning on teaching in August because I wanted to tour a bit, this being my first time in Spain and in Europe but I couldn't say no to such a good offer. Sounds like a challenge so here's to hoping that all goes well.

So far this has been my experience with their job placement help, fast enough? sure is - but maybe too fast for me ??? ...

This newbie in town would like to meet some ex EBC students, teachers, so if you'd like to send me a PM, maybe we can meet up on common grounds at the EBC school on Orense Street. Hope to meet some of you guys soon.
