I don't think I will be visiting Indonesia this year.
The first human-human transmission cases?
The initial reports seem to have been quietly buried.

Yeah, there was a short item on the 6 o clock news last week...
but apparantly it didnt spread...

we would have noticed by now if it had.
Of course, if it is actually what the WHO thinks it is and the Indonesian gov is keeping this quiet, it's a quiet before the storm eh.

So what do ya reckon? We'll all be dead in a month?

Read Micheal Crichton's "State of Fear" and you'll soon realize how the press/media and researchers do their best to get us into a uh . . . well . . . "state of fear" to increase their viewership and funding.

Then you can relax a bit.

Remember SARS? More people died of lightning strikes in the same amount of time.

Perhaps we should all freak out about lightning?

Well I am still eating chicken and continued eating beef through the last chaotic scare of BSE but still waiting for the all clear. It might be safer to be veggie. The way things are going we need to look at which species will suffer an infection next. it could be advantageous for some species such as whales if they did develop an auto immune infection or suchlike to protect themselves from whalers Can you imagine North Atlantic Cod or herrings developing toxicity as a defence mechanism?
