Hi

I presume that since I am a newbie then this is the right forum to be posting in. I have sifted through the massive newbie forums and cannot find another post that addresses my specific questions so I'll just go ahead:

I have decided to take the plunge and get a working holiday visa (UK) for Japan having been turned down by both Geos & Nova Embarassed
Thing is I don't know what my chances are of getting work in Japan.
I am a native English speaker with a bachelor degree and okay-ish conversational Japanese. I'm just not very good at teaching unless I can set my own materials. I have been told that private teaching is a good option, can anyone
a) give me some fundamental private teaching pointers
b) asses my chances of finding any type of work in Tokyo october time

Am I too inexperienced for private teaching?

By the way I have so little teaching experience that it's barely worth mentioning

robinn,
Send me an email, and I'll give you a list of private lesson pointers. Too long to post here. NOBODY is too inexperience to try teaching privately, because many customers just want chatting practice. If you want to KEEP students, you should know what you're doing, though. Just don't be surprised when students bail out on your at the last moment. It's not personal, though. The younger students (teens, college kids, etc.) are not as reliable as the older ones.

Contact the Japan Association of Working Holiday Makers for advice on getting jobs.

If you don't like following a pre-planned teaching format from your school, you might be better off coming here with the WHV and trying to get hired by smaller schools.

There is a small surge of October hires, but soon after that it dwindles, so look hard.
