much appreciated jon. i have pplive and ppstream so it's a good option - thanks. but i find it annoys me a little when i have a big screen tv that won't be used and i have to watch it on my monitor.......
such is life....
anyone know a foolproof way (for a fool like me) of hooking up the monitor of your laptop to the tv? i've searched on the net but most explanations are far from clear (to me.....) |

ironopolis: thank you for the NHK schedule
Jon: thank you for the alternative
everyone else: Today I'm going to write an angry letter to Sky... I encourage you guys to do the same... Believe me, it can make a HUGE difference.... A good friend of mine wrote a letter to protest the moving of The Simpsons time slot on Fox Japan, -- and boom. a couple weeks later, there it was, back the way it was before.
We CAN make a difference. There is absolutely NO reason why Sky can't be showing all those games live as they are recording them... None whatsoever. That's what they have listed for that time slot! BTW, I've taken a bit more time to decypher the kanji at the bottom of each yellow box, and it says "programming still undetermined at this time." Well, if that's the case, WHY DON'T THEY SHOW THE BLOODY GAME?!?!?! C'mon people.... If we each wrote a letter, I guarantee they would take it seriously because it also won't be just us. I'm sure other people are angry about this too. Sky needs a good kick in the nuts and we're just the angry soccer fans who can administer that.... |

Cable. That would be worth looking into as well. FYI, you don't need Skyperfect to get BS channels. If you have CATV, you probably already receive BS channels in your package. In my old apartment, that was indeed the case.
In my new place, I have 2 satellite dishes: 1 for BS programming (like sumo and the Superbowl) and the other is Skyperfect.
Also, on another note, I read on someone's Blog site that apparently Tokyo Broadcasting Corp. (TBS) will be airing all the FIFA World Cup games live via Internet broadcast.
Can anyone help confirm whether or not this is true? And if so, how to receive said broadcast?
Cheers,
JD |

No.... The pubs don't have any more access to live games than we do.... Unless they're hiding a monster, house-sized C-band dish somewhere.
Again, it's not that you won't be able to watch the games, you just won't see them live. There will be a few live ones shown on NHK's BS-1 though so if a pub decides to show those, then yes, you can go down to the local and see some soccer. |

Aw jeez, Sweetsee -- you beat me to the morning paper. I didn't realize my letter was in there until you brought it up. Thanks for that!
I don't often fail to read my morning paper, but today I was quite busy so I may have missed it if you hadn't brought it up! Thank you.... |

No worries Jim, you are welcome.
You would have to be up pretty early
to beat me to the paper, man that steaming
cup of hot Joe was really hitting the spot as
I perused your letter to the editor. My favorite
time of day, you know, just out of the shower
and collapsing on to the sofa with some cushions
under my calves, a good half-an-hour of quiet
relaxation before the daily grind.
Hope I didn't ruin the surprise, I mean for all I know
you were looking forward to seeing it for yourself
before hearing about it. Either way, nice job.
One of my long-term goals is to do the same.
Enjoy,

Anyone check out channel 181 during the game? You watch people watching the game and talking about it. How exciting! |
