|

I have received 2 offers to teach in China and naturally wish to find if anyone can confirm the validity. The first is from the China Network (Chris Ryall) to teach at Daye Experimental School. The second is from a gentleman by the name of Brett Fruin. Both seem to be above board, and I apologize to them if they happen to read this, but one can never be to careful before embarking on such a journey. Thanks. |

I have had dealings with Chris Ryall before, he seems to be a straight shooter but that being said I never took any of the jobs he forwarded to me.
Part of this reason was that after lengthy contract negotiations with him concerning one particular position I posted here and asked the same type of question that you have done. In response from him I got an angry e-mail stating that a public forum was no place to garner information about him or his business.
He may have had his reasons for being so defensive (bad reviews perhaps??) but it just put me off dealing with him again. |

Yamahuh, I think it is only natural for recruiters to get defensive considering the number of people who criticise them for whatever reason. Much of the material posters submit on this forum about them is total krappe. I worked for a recruiter for half a year, and while I did not like the business I was associated with, much of the criticism was unjustified.
Actually, Kim, The China Teaching Network would be one of the best recruiters in business. The talk about them around the circles was always positive. They are NOT a base school agency, which is a good sign.
If the Daye School is the one I am thinking about, it is not a bad place. A couple I know worked there about a year ago and they enjoyed the place. They showed me photos of their apartment and it was huge and modern. PM me and I can give you their e-mail. |

No doubt, and I'm not saying that his organization is a bad one; far from it actually, up until that point they had seemed very professional but I was just surprised by his reaction to my enquiries. After all in this profession you'd be stupid not to do some research before 'signing on the dotted line' no matter how above-board a recruiter might seem.
Anyway, take it for what it's worth and good luck to the OP. |
