I'm a few weeks away from leaving Japan for a new gig in another country. At the moment, I work for a large eikawa corporation and live in a Leopalace apartment.
I was wondering what to do about utility bills that would be due for the final month that I'm here. Does anyone have some experience with this?
I ordinarily pay the bills myself, individually, at a convenience store. They are currently up-to-date. Would my company likely take the reins on the utilities and pay them out of my final month's salary? I'd kind of like to hear what people here have to say before I just invite the company to do so. Ideally, I wouldn't want them to make any deductions out of that salary payment. I'd prefer to handle it myself. |

GEOS will tell you what to do if you ask them. |

I feel you Soba, but what I'm concerned about is the company withholding my money for a prolonged period of time, with no need to be responsive to me. I don't want my money to be held up because bills might pop up and so forth... |

No, this won't happen. I suggest you speak to your manager and bring her some of the old bills you have for your utilities. Ask her to call the company and tell them when your last day will be. They will arrange a time to come round to make a final payment.
Residential tax is a slightly different issue, however, and the company will take it out of your final paycheck (if I am correct about the company you work for). |
