... or am I just being a muppet?
I regularly look on polang_jobs and the tefl website but I can't find a job advert anywhere. Have you guys got on any ideas? Does Krakow have it's own web page?! |

OK, so I've done just a teeny bit more research and found 2 more jobs over 6 websites. I still think these jobs are hiding from me somewhere..... |

There are already teachers in Cracow looking for work so a lot of schools don't really need to bother.
Come if you can. |

From my experience schools will hire someone that they can meet face to face over almost anyone who is just applying over the net. I recommend getting to krakow ASAP, taking your CV from school to school and trying to meet the DOS. Often they want to see you teach a lesson or two before they make any final decisions. |

Well there's some free money right there. It's illegal to ask for photographs with job applications. I think I might have to send them an application without a photo and then find myself a lawyer who'll split the winnings 50/50 with me! |

Find me a Polish employer who doesn't ask for a photo, at least for their Polish employees. It's such an obscene trend here, but it's par. And when has illegality ever been an impediment in Poland? |

Cheers for all the suggestions. So far my CV has been sent to 25 schools with absolutely none replying after 3 days. I suspect I might have to email them until they get bored of me. Either that or they don't like my photo. Alex, what's your number?...... |

Good luck. |

Definitely be patient, and keep in mind that krakow is SATURATED with english teachers!!
I did the rounds back in November, applied at about 10? schools in person, and only one called me back after a few weeks at an airport (as I was flying away from poland.... guess it wasnt meant to be...
I would definitely go in person though, it would increase your odds.
Or... goto smalltown Poland to teach and have a real adventure
I will only add that the Polish girls are prudes lol |

Well, you're absolutely right - patience is key. Over the course of 3 weeks I heard back from 5 schools (out of the 30 that I contacted) so that fills me with hope that opportunities are out there. You just have to put in the graft to find them.
I'm asking lots of questions in my reply emails but not actually asking how much the salary is. I get the feeling this isn't the 'done' thing. Mind you getting responses to these seems to be another challenge.
I shall hit the streets at the end of Aug with CV in hand and darn well get me a job. Given that I am a newbie, (albeit with considerable charm cough cough) and that there may well be saturation in the market and that Poles seem to think they can teach english I'm going to aim for 40 zwots an hour. Good idea or not? Play hardball for more or be happy for what I get? |

In Krakw, 40 pln is achievable, even normal. For God's sake, don't take less than that unless you're fresh from a tefl course without experience. Unqualified, you should still be able to get that provided you have a bit of experience. |
