Hi, I am currently in South Korea teaching EFL to kids. I am hoping to go to Costa Rica and find a job I have no problem going there to find one but I am wondering how you go about it. Do people just fly there and then wander around trying to find a job or are there school listings available? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

I have found some information on different schools by searching around the internet, but in San Jose there are language schools EVERYWHERE. Besides the private language schools, all public schools and private schools (primary and secondary) teach English. Oftentimes, they need a native speaker. You will have no trouble finding a job teaching English. Some places pay more, and some less - but you'll find a job just by going. No doubt. |

This might sound stupid, so please keep your laughing to yourself. But do you just walk into a school and hand them your resume? Should I call the school first? |

I would email the schools, unis, agencies, wherever you feel you would like to work with a cover letter and your credentials with your resume. Then follow it up with a phone call or just drop in.
Sometimes just being in the right place at the right time is what gets you in the door and gets you a job. As i posted before, even after the bimester begins, some classes grow too big for one teacher and so the class splits into two., therefore one week into the course a job becomes available.
If you just walk into the school chances are youd just end up making an appointment for a later time, this is especially true with the DOSs of the universities.
Good luck
cheers
