Hi!
I have been told told that apartments around Nuevos Ministerios, Castelana are not cheap but I was wondering if any of you will be away for the month of July and would like to sublet their apartment / room. My TEFL course starts on July 3. Thanks a lot.

Hi Tracy,
Around Azca/ Castellana, Orense, Nuevos Minsiterios is Madrids financial district so chances are there won't be many English teachers living there! Many teachers go away in July as there are lots of summer camp work on offer which means they might be willing to sublet the apartment for the month they're away. You can find apartments not too far from metro:Nuevos Ministerios, may not be the fanciest area but there are affordable options around. Try Cuatro Caminos, Bravo Murillo which are close to the Plza Castilla metro stop which is the same line that gets you to Nuevos Ministerios.
Look up the local papers ie: www.segundamano.es or try InMadrid's website, don't remember it off hand.

...but don't forget that Bravo Murillo as it continues north of Cuatro Caminos can get very gang-y and dodgy at night: wouldn't live anywhere north of there if I were you, unless it's more to the East, along Castellana which is pretty posh. Good areas around there are Rios Rosas, Alonso Cano, Iglesia, Canal (these are the nearest metro stops). Hope this hasn't confused things! |

hello tracy,
i'm booked in a hostel for the weekend before the course starts but i don't fancy staying the whole month in a hostel, especially since i'm doing a month long intensive TEFL course and the hostel I'm going to be in is dead centre Sol ... might be a bit difficult to concentrate ,,, ... did you find a sublet close to the school? friends of mine mentioned a company called madridinsider for finding flats to share, rooms , etc. any advice?
cheers,
rebecca |

This time of year there are a ton of rooms going all over Madrid on Loquo http://madrid.loquo.com/?fix=1 ...this is really the best time of year to find a good room and not pay over the odds. There's really no need to go through an intermediary. |

You're a God send Moore! I found this and on the map it seems soooo close to my TEFL school on 16 Orense. The flat to share is on Reina Mercedes, 8 - 28020 Madrid. Is this a safe area?
