Hi everyone.
Just a question that is bugging me. During my discussions in the last week re signing of a new contract the topic came up (from employer) about this forum. They quoted it to me and said they are fed up with FTs moaning about conditions, rates of pay etc. Surprised me a little as they are obviously reading this all the time by some of the things they quoted to me.
Any thoughts comments about this?? |

hope they quoted me
maybe our messages aren't just shouts in the wilderness - apart from moans did they give any concrete reasons why they're displeased - did they say why some of our wishes were unrealistic????? |

It was quite interesting actually as I played dumb and said I did not know what they were talking about but would have a look at it.
They were actually trying to use it to screw the wage and benefits down for the new contract. Saying that some people were working for Y3000 a year. Yeah right I said but when I have more than 4 yrs experience and good reports from the school and students don't try and pull that one on me.
Maybe this could be a warning for some who are in the middle of negotiations at the moment. |

Well I guess - for your spot of bother - you have to thank all those fine posters who tell us that our ethical duties as teachers should make us nice contented and well behaved monkeys when being presented with a rather lightweight pay envelope - reading these forums, what a push-over China FT's must seem |

If it isn't enough for employers reading, how about other FT's printing posts from a particular topic/user and presenting them to the employer, without even having the courtesy of informing that poster beforehand. |

Imagine that you were a Chinese FAO and just finished reading the Off Topic Forum.
Would you be thinking that these smart chaps deserve a much higher salary or that we need to cut down the ration of bananas? |

I am sure some employers do read this, but I doubt they take the advice to heart. |

there was an article in the new york times a few weeks ago about chinese university students being paid to steer threads in the "right direction". i'm sure something like this exists on dave's. some posts are too warm and happy. |

I would hope so. I also hope she'd have the good sense to sift the wheat from the chaff, and to give time and thought to the important issues rather than react immediately and emotionally. Does she? How would I know? |

You're cheap enough, convenenient enough and kow-tow to your masters enough as it is.
So what your opinions are simply don't matter to your employers.
Just keep doing what you're doing until someone else like you decides to spend/waste some of their time and energy in Pudong. Then you'll have to start writing flowery messages to nab that 2 hour speech competition gig.
Good luck! |

That could explain the disappearence of one of my posts from last year.
Not sure if my employer reads here. A coworker does. I dont really have any complaints about my employer though. I think if I wanted to post specefic details about job dissatisfaction I would probably come up with another identity to do that with. |
