I would appreciate some feedback on this recruiting agency which has
invited me to Taiwan with future job guarantees. Thanks. Rolling Eyes

once upon a time i looked into their organization only to skeedadle away. look at their contract. another website, forumosa has a LONG thread devoted entirely to the antics of this organization. while there will almost inevitably rebuttal claiming it is a fair organization here, the common knowledge on the street here is to give them a wide berth.

Good advice...another tip for you...don't be recruited, just come and look around....don't waste a year when in 2 weeks you can discover all you need to know and find a great job.

i nearly went through with iacc, and they can provide a newcomer to taiwan the security of having interviews/demonstrations lined up. but if you come here, with the money and patience, and also a plan as to where you will work ie. you've researched the cityschools, organised some interviews for when you come, you will be in much better shape.

iacc don't really promise you anything, except that they will take a portion of your paycheck.

they can provide some security, and from my dealings with them, they do seem fairly knowledgeable, but at the end of the day, they're in it for a commission, and will do anything to get you to sign on the dotted line. recrtuiters prey on the insecurity and money worries mof newcomers, so by coming prepared, knowing what you're going to do, how you're going to do it, and coming with money, you'll be in much better shape.

IACC holds the all time record for complaints filed by teachers employed by them. They also have numerous complaints filed by schools.
This is how IACC works.
First they will recruit naive or desperate teachers who don''t know about this agency or don't care.
They then have the teachers sign a contract that gives such unfavorable terms for the teacher that you would have to be illiterate just to sign it. These terms include work deposits, no health insurance, fraudulent ARC if any.... Most of these terms set in the contract are in violation of Taiwan's toothless labor standard laws. Unfortunately if you are hired through a third party like IACC, there is little to no means of seeking restitution.
The most troubling aspect of this particular agency is the graft and corruption associated with it.
Being out of Taichung gives them great latitude in interpreting regulations and laws. Taichung is regarded by many as the new organized crime capital of Taiwan. From the number of shootings and police sanctioned criminal activity in that area, there may be some merit to that statement.
IACC will charge the school they contract with between 60,000nt per month to 80,000nt per month for a teacher they send to teach there. These same schools refuse to hire very qualified teachers that require lower pay.
How is it that a school will pay this much for an unqualified teacher through the most disreputable agency in Taiwan? The answer is kickbacks.
The vast majority of schools that do business with IACC are large partnerships. The person at the school required to hire the teachers, usually the manager will get a kick back from IACC of anywhere from 10% to 30%. How much is paid to the school's management depends on how much the school paid IACC for the teacher. The partners are usually not aware of this practice.
DO NOT WORK FOR IACC UNDER ANY CONDITIONS

I saw a report that their web site got hacked this morning. Some people need to be a little more careful about the information they put out. Instigating that kind of action is not going to solve any problems. Encouraging such irresponsible behavior is only going to make a bad situation that much worse.

SSETT in no way condones illegal or malicious acts, no matter how justified they might be. There has been no work action of the sort mentioned above proposed or approved by SSETT or it's members.
The banner on the defaced web page claimed it was done by some obscure non-existent hacker group.
