Hello,

I recently applied to few Eikaiwa (AEON, GEOS, and NOVA). Does anyone know if they happen to be hiring right now?

I'm also considering ECC and James English School. Does anyone have any thoughts on these two schools?

Thanks for your time.

As far as I know they hire all year round but the peak times for hire are a little bit before April, May, to get in time for prep for the beginning of the school year on September.

In what country? In Japan, the (academic) school year begins in April. Which btw, is also the peak hiring season in Japan. It coincides with university graduations in March.

I was recently (as in a couple days ago) hired by NOVA, and Geos, Aeon, and ECC all offered me interviews. Aeon quite aggressively in fact, they called me three times Shocked

Funny story about Nova,

I was walking down the street in Okayama and stopped by an English speaking Japanese old couple who knew how to speak English. They made small talk and asked me if I worked for NoVAcation.

Thats the end of my story Smile

P.S: no clue if the novacation thing is true or not, I don't work for NOVA, nor do I know anyone that does. It was just kind of cute to hear the old couple ask me that so I posted.

what cracks me up about Nova (and other eikaiwa joints) is when I walk by a branch and the tissue lady asks me if I want to try an English lesson (my ethnic background is Asian). I'm like, "No, but howabout I give you one instead?" Razz

it was even funnier when it's a branch that I had worked at, and the tissue lady didn't recognize me in casual wear.

I started working for Aeon at the end of March but was actually interviewed in October. If you are overseas, it will probably be at least four months after the interview before you are despatched to Japan. Also, I actually asked my recruiter if I could be sent to Japan at the earliest possible opportunity.

I wonder if those tissue packs actually generate business for the eikaiwas. What a strange way to get customers. Blow your nose or run out of toilet paper.... hey I should learn English.

They're always hiring. Nova, for example, has a 70% a year teacher turnover so they always need replacements. Berlitz's turnover is much lower and the other companies fit somewhere in between.
