Has anyone read "My friend Leonard?"

In it he talks about his favourite fortified wine that sounds like night train. On the label it says it is fortified with ethanol.

Ah. I was thinking of Olde English. Old E. Foul wretched stuff but it does make me a bit misty-eyed with nostalgia....

Gosh, I remember when you could get a 4 pack of Efes in Migros for 3 million, just a few years ago. I miss that.
I remember when a can of Efes was 5000 TL.

Nah, they just changed the label. I think it's the same company came out with another label of similarly flavored cat-pee, but with a snazzier looking bottle, called Cumartesi...

I was talking to a student about Guzel Marmara yesterday. She claimed that it is now drinkable. It's not as if she is cheap, she generally drinks bottles of French Merlot. I am too much of a coward to try it out ,even with the fancy new artwork on the label.

I'm always amazed when you go to a fancy wine bar and they offer you a glass of weed killer and say how good it is and have the bare faced cheek to ask 10ytl for a glass of the stuff .
Teridag ,you're right, that stuff is poison, even the turkish gin and vodka will do you less harm than that crap .

I thought Cumartesi was alright, mind you my taste buds have been numbed by 'Samsun' cigarettes

Cumartesi is acceptable the moment you open it, but after 5 minutes of exposure to air it goes downhill... AFter that, I put some sugar in it, and it was acceptable. The rest I kept for cooking and spoiled a batch a soup.

Can you still get 'Izmir' wine? Made palatable only by the addition of juice.

And another of my personal favourites. The heehaw always has a bottle ready for me coming home because she knows what's good for her.
