Couple of job advertisments up in the job centre. A national plus school in Bogor at 8million and a Jakarta school for 12million (after including housing and arifare)
Doesnt seem like wages have stayed inline with inflation. Do you think there will be many takers for these jobs? I mean other than a fresh face or a semi retired expat.

This is the reason they must advertise for teachers.

The Bogor one is an insult. 8M with no housing and no airfare! Wouldn't advise anyone touches it with a long stick.

Wow, prices have increased 20% since January 05 and they haven't even raised wages 10%?

if the figure quoted are correct, it is a wonder indeed that any teachers are coming to Indonesia.

There is so much competition now, that unless schools get realistic, and offer housing, air fares, decent insurance and competitive salaries, it will end up much like Thailand, where no air fares are offered, salaries are poor, and they seem to be advertising for teachers continuously, and they insist on a degree of any sort, English teaching experience optional! Horticulturlists welcome! Wink

Well as the saying goes pay peanuts and get monkeys, Very Happy some school offered me 6 and when I said no they offered 7 but I pay my one visa Shocked needles to say they have never had a white teacher or any good local one.

Whatdu say only 20% ha! The mouth on month is 17%, but I have noticed that there is less food on the plate in the last few months and prices are up a bit like in November when the angot went from 1,500 to 2,500 over night, last month up 500 more lucky I have a bike but I have noticed that gas is up too used to be 26,000 now 33,000 and lots of gas sold on the side of the road for 5,000 a bottle, must be good bis.
