I'm wondering if there's any way of getting a statutory declaration,
(a statement sworn by oath or affirmation that it is true) in Japan?
If so, what would the title of the Justice of the Peace equivalent
be in Japan, and where would I find one or a directory of them? |

Talk about living here too long, I remember the Japanese word for the place for witnessing documents but not the English word.
If you want documents officially witnessed you go to the "koshonin" or notary public office. You pay money and it is certified by a retired magistrate.
here are the notary offices in Gifu. Probably its in Japanese only or you need a Japanese speaker to go with you.

Or your best bet is probably the embassy of consulate of your country. |
