Hi. I tried putting this post in the newbie forum, but got no response, so I thought perhaps someone here might be able to help.

I'm from the U.S. and will be spending the summer in Toronto, Canada. I have a BA in English, and would like to get a teacher training certificate this summer, while I'm in Toronto, and begin work overseas in the fall.

I wanted to get the certificate from International House in Toronto, since they have other locations throughout the world, and I thought this might help with getting a job. However, they offer a TESL, rather than a CELTA. The CELTA program is offered by a school called LSI (I think, stands for Language Studies International), but I don't know anything about this school, and whether they could assist me with getting employment after completing the degree.

I would greatly appreciate any recommendation between these two options. If you're not familiar with these particular schools, perhaps someone could make a recommendation just based on CELTA vs. TESL or International House vs. Language Studies International.

A final, and less desireable option for my summer plans, is to get the CELTA at St. Giles in San Francisco. If somebody strongly recommends this school over the Canadian options, I would consider it--but it would mean dashing my summer plans.

Thanks for any help that can be offered. As ESL teachers in North America, I thought perhaps someone might be able to steer me toward the best choice among these for post-certification employment. All the best.

The Celta is the most recognized tefl certificate around the world. It is expensive, but I think worth it.
