The more I research the more I want to be in the Zhuhai area as opposed to Beijing but I have not received any offers. Any insights on this city and subject school OR any schools in Zhuhai? |

Will they let you use any methods besides TPR? I don't think I could work for TPR Nazis. |

Sorry, I assumed that a TPR school would be a school that uses TPR--Total Physical Response.
"Stand up." The students stand up.
"Turn around." The students turn around.
"Sit down." The students sit down.
"Grab your partner's notebook." The students grab their partners' notebooks.
"Hit him over the head with it." The students hit each other over the head.
Actually, TPR can be pretty fun sometimes.
I do like it for some things. It works really well for teaching prepositions, and some people learn well from doing.

You are quite correct is assuming that Zhuhai is a better proposition as compared to Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau so close.
I live in Shenzhen, which is on the other side of the river delta.
If I had to do it all over again, I"d move to Zhuhai.
Sorry no info about the school |

The school is unknown to me.
But I know Zhuhai from various trips to Macau. SInce it is a relatively young city, it could erroneously be lumped together with those uninspiring monstrosities such as Shenzhen, but that would be unfair to Zhuhai.
The lifestyle there is pretty urbane, yet there is almost a European quality of life to it with lots of green spaces and natural landscapes being preserved. The sea is on two sides of town, the population density is comparatively low.
An extra advantage is its proximity to Macau, which affords you easy shopping, great international cuisines at modest prices, and an infrastructure generally missing in the mainland.
If jobs are not so numerous, the answer is that Zhuhai is too small a place. It should perhaps be pointed out that Zhuhai's economy is not mature yet. Lots of those structures built by the authorities are white elephants - see their "international" airport, plus a railway line that for a hundred years has been in the minds and on the drawing-board, but not become reality yet, plus the trans-Pearl RIver bridge the Zhuhai government started without consultation with the partners they wanted to connect to their side of the river...
There are at least 4 or 5 reputable training centres, one of which I can strongly recommend although pay there is significantly lower than in Shenzhen or Guangzhou. |

Thanks for your replies. They were both informative. I am diligently pursuing obtaining a position in Zhuhai and if you hear of any, keep me in mind. With this being the weekend, I will most likely receive replies tonight here in New York. I really want something in this city and hopefully I will get an offer! |

Well, I have made my decision and decided to accept this school's contract offer. I could do worse and/or possibly better but, I have a good source that tells me to grab this one. I am however, negotiating to NOT have a roommate and if all else fails I'll locate something on my own. Believe me, I do not want to travel that far and be stuck with a roommate. I've had some roommates from H*LL down through the years. Please do not ask....it was pure torture. Having said all that, if anyone has knowledge of Zhuhai and the apartment market, don't keep it to yourself, share the wealth |

Am I a bit late with the reply? anyways, i know that school very well and i have few friends working there and few friends who used to work there ) it's a not bad school ) in fact, living in zhuahi is quite comfortable, Macao is just 2 steps away *smile* and this school is pretty popular and provides good curriculum [my friend's father helps with it - they have pretty strong base]
