|
|
I'll be leaving this small rural town and heading to the big city of Nanjing. I've got some questions.
1. Are there any good places to learn Mandarin, language schools or universities that have good, but affordable lessons? Do they speak a dialect in Nanjing?
2. Any good gyms around the city? I really miss working out.
3. Where can I get a mobile? I just need a simple one without all the bells buzzers and whistles.
4. Where are some places to buy DVDs at a good price? Legal or illegal, it doesn't matter, here there are places that sell them for about 6 yuan.
5. Private students, where should I advertise and how much should I charge?
6. Where are some good markets?
7. Is there a decent library that has English books?
8. Any tattoo places?
9. HOw is the transport in Nanjing?
10. Are there any art museums or galleries?
11. Is there a newspaper or information about local events, concerts, plays, art stuff, etc.?
12. Where are some good travel agents?
That's about it. Thanks a lot! |

Naturegirl,
I haven't spent nearly enough time in Nanjing to specifcally answer all your questions...some of them may be tough for anyone.
I just want to assure you that Nanjing is a large and modern city, and you are going to find entertainment and culture and necessities there. What few things you don't find, if any, will be a short train ride away in Suzhou and Shanghai.
It seems like a rather nice town. Relax and enjoy...

We have everything here that you have requested. A free English magazine called MAP is available at the Skyways deli/bakery on Hankou xi lu. It has all the listings. Good Mandarin classes at Nanjing Normal University but easy and cheap(free) to find a Chinese student to do language exchange with you.
email me when you get to town if you need any help. I love this city!
