It says in the Speigel German newspaper that the most dangerous football holigans come from Poland. Shocked Ist dis da truth?
Quote:
Purski has observed the violent and racist Polish soccer fan scene for years and he fears they could cast a dark shadow over the sport's biggest competition this summer. "The hooligans want to use the World Cup in Germany to prove that they're just as dangerous as their English, Dutch or German colleagues. We have to expect the worst," he says. Call it a Hooligan World Cup.

This will be WWIII or so some people are saying! ive heard that about Polish hoolies and if you look in the archives on www.timesonline.co.uk you can find a good article about the travelling dzileta to this year's world cup. But i dont think its as bad as it could be. Many of england hoolies will be banned from travelling to germany and the dutch have a similar system.
I heard rumours of either a combined force of the english, dutch and poles against the germans and then another saying everyman for himself.
I kept getting told about how polish football was, violence -wise, similar to the terraces in england in the 70s and 80s but, nah! i went to a few Legia games and apart from a lot of passionate singing there was nothing to worry about.

Also,or so ive been told, the polish ultras fear the croats because their firms consist mainly of ex-military.! only time will tell....and there's only 3 days to go Very Happy

I couldn't find a mention in Der Spiegel that Polish hooligans were the most dangerous.
I wonder, how do you expect your students to get the gist of an article if you can't?

No, I don't think Der Spiegel is for children. It is perfect for bored housewives though. Wink

One German newspaper also said Germany took only 2 days to crush Poland in 1939 but will need only 90 minutes tonight.

Their xenephobia seems to bubble a little too closely to the surface at times. Almost as bad as The Sun.
