Hey, Justin,

I'm teaching international students here in Philadelphia, and, of course, they're quite absorbed with the World Cup. Even my most faithful Korean students all missed class on the day last week when South Korean was playing. I don't have any students from Ecuador, but I did take notice of their winning their first game last week against Costa Rica. I wonder what sorts of reactions you got from Ecuadorian students and colleagues after this victory. Dancing in the streets? Fireworks set off? General mayhem?

Hey there.

Costa Rica was actually our second match- Poland was first. Both were decisive victories, and it looks like we're on our way to the next rounds.

Ecuador celebrates in many ways. We all watched both the matches together where I work, and there was a lot of screaming, dancing, hugging, etc. But the worst alwways comes out too, and the evenings of both matches a lot of people were pretty drunk on streets slick with vomit...

It depends on what you're into...
