Maybe some Canadians in HK might be able to help me out here...
My wife (from Guangzhou) is going through the immigration process. I've been approved by Canada to be her sponsor and we've paid the 'right of permanent residence fee'. The forms/applications/documents have been mailed back to the Canadian Consulate in HK for the final approval (this was back in Feb.)
I have heard that after one pays the 'right of permanent residence fee', s/he would only need to wait two or three months for the final decision to be made. If the the applicant is approved then a visa would be issued. It's almost the end of June now and we still haven't heard from either Canada or HK. So I'm getting a bit worried.
I've tried emails and even calling the consulate in HK (852-2810-4321) but no one has responded to my emails or even picked up the phone. I'm currently based in GZ so I can make a trip down to HK but on the consulate's web site, there isn't a time slot for visitors to inquire about immigration procedures.
So what should I do?
1. Just sit tight and hope that a response would come soon.
2. Head down to the consulate and try to get some answers.
Suggestions? Advices?
Thanks. |
