Mr Wallace, could you please go back and give some background to your post? In particular, please supply an antecedent to the pronoun they in your third sentence. Who are "they"? Where are "they"? Who is/was teaching "them"?

We have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, especially given the title you've given your thread.

It is a matter of Canadian, and without question other countries', universities handing out degrees to Chinese students, some of whom never leave China let alone leave their hometown where they are studying at university.

The factory where I work has a deal with a relatively new Canadian university. Undergraduates in the Economics Department, upon graduating, receive two degrees: one from their Chinese university, and one from the Canadian university.

Over the course of four years, the students receive a grand total of one semester of studies from a visiting Canadian professor employed by the degree awarding institute. Whether or not the students understand anything he/she says is a matter I know nothing about. However, I do know that this Canadian university already recognizes the awesome caliber of these Chinese students, and is eager to award/sell them those long sought after Canadian-minted certificates of Higher Education to these independent and fierce intellects.

It was quite amusing, actually. On graduation day, I saw several students holding their Canadian degrees up against the bright afternoon sky:

- 是假的吗？

- 老师说如果能看到枫叶的话，证明是真的。。

- 曹他妈！没有。。。

I've heard of students paying to have their lectures, assignments and homework translated into Chinese. They'd do all the coursework in their own language essentially, and just have it all translated. If it isn't a language course, does this count as cheating?

Many British universities in China don't care about the quality of the students they are enrolling.

Why? Because they require these students to spend money on a "top up" year in the UK. The students must pass in this top year, after the tuition, housing, books, and other fees are paid. If they fail, they can pay again and keep trying until they finally pass.

Think "education as business" and you'll see what a great plan it is. Was this Tony Blair's own idea?

I met a lady from Harvard who was giving three weekend lectures to
bankers in Taiyuan Shanxi province . After three weekend lectures they were to be awarded MBA's.

I met the lady at Beijing waiting for a delayed flight . She was angry about the delay because her schedule was tight . She was giving the lectures to managers of some obscure bank that I had never heard of . I asked her if she spoke Chinese . She said no .
MBAs are the easiest degree to get in my mind . Pay your money and you get the paper . Do you know of anyone with a business degree that was obtained on a scholarship ?
