To anyone out there! My name is Mac ! I am currently in Vientiane Laos waiting on a potential employer to send me information to bring to the Chinese embassy but they are stalling and my money is running out and I don't have the funds to fly to another country. I was enquiring if someone out there knows of a job opening where an employer could send me an airline ticket to my next teaching job. I have posted my resume on Dave's section of teachers looking for a job. I can be reached at [email protected] for replys on this message. I am 43 years old and I come from America. I don't have anyone from America to ask for financial help and I would not! I just want to go somewhere to teach again. I have been teaching for over 5 years now! Thank you for reading this message.

Try ACE in Cambodia on the web, or Regent, they might be hiring tho i think they already hired for sept.

If you can afford it, and it's not terribly far, go to Phnom Penh! Try the American School. Failing that there are lots of other places you can find work in Phnom Penh, as there is a big turnover. PM if you wish. Good luck...

...and I am sorry to inform you that no Chinese is going to be foolish enough to send you a ticket to a foreign place without first seeing you!
You will get a refund for your plane ticket at the end of your tenure. If at all...

I do not know how despeerate you are, but it would be wiser for you to follow khmerhit's suggestion, and only come to China if you can afford it.
You will have to be high and dry here for up to two months, and hotels are not as cheap in China as they are in Cambodia!

Yes, if you can get to Ho Chi Minh City of Hanoi, there are jobs available. I was in Saigon a few weeks ago (for 6 weeks) and I was offered a lot of teaching positions at $8 and $10 US per hour. No contract, no accommodation and no plane ticket refunded - but plenty of work avaiable. Just front up to the Schools with your resume and you will be teaching the next day. They pay once a week - on a Saturday - in local currency. Best of luck.

After going into Laos and going to the chinese embassy which is what the woman who was going to hire me wanted me to do things have not gone well for me. She had told me she would provide an airline ticket to China if I could get a working visa. Both embassies in Laos and Bangkok said to me that I would have to get a tourist visa first. The bottom line to all of this is that My money is almost finished and I am not closer to working than I was before. I look at the mistakes I made and realize that nothing is in concrete. I am going to go to Cambodia and see if I can survive there working where I can find work. I have taught for over 5 years and I realize that Things can change very quickly. Maybe times like these force people to take a long look at what really matters in life.
