Hi,
I am going to take the CELTA in Krakow, PL this summer and have printed the "pre-course" workbook (37 pages). I have had no problem with the section about vocabulary and tenses, but when I got to the phonetic section, it scared me a bit. I do not have any prior training in TEFL so this is all new to me. I am now wondering if they assume you should know the phonetic alphabet and all the stresses and all associated with phonics, or do they go over this and teach this? I am going there to learn so I am a little confused.
Anyone know where I can maybe learn some quick info on this because in this pre-course workbook the phonic section looks like Russian or something..Any thoughts? |

Hello, don't worry about it at all. Have a read through what they have sent you and if it doesn't make any sense leave it until the course. I was thinking the exact same as you before my CELTA and they went through everything in the course. I found this a very interesting part of the course but you don't really need any prior knowledge here. All the best! |
