I can't stop watching this. Extremely offbeat, yet hypnotic and mesmerizing at the same time. If it is indeed an ad, I find it to be very effective, as soy sauce now seems so much more appealing than the "foreign sauces" like ketchup Smile

That was great. Really brightened my day, and I for one will be throwing away my ketchup.

- Don't try this at home kids.

That is really funny.
I'm not sure why the swears were in there. Shocked It doesn't seem to fit with the cartoon, otherwise I would have shown it to some kids.

Despite the fact that an egg-eating cat gets hanged? Smile

Holy shit! Shocked

A bit of xenophobia, Japanlish, sex, suicide, violence: the whole nine yards.

Looks like the ad designer tried the LSD soy on his eggs that morning.

Those wacky Japanese....

Hey, where IS the planet of Soy?

Apparently there is a sequel:

http://yoga.at.infoseek.co.jp/flash/kaijin_e.swf

How a banana came to be paired up with a fried shrimp, I'll never know. Regardless, I'm finding myself laughing like a maniac at these. That Kikkoman jingle, with that awful yet oh so determined vocalist, won't be leaving my head anytime soon Smile

Hey, don't mock Kikkoman! He even gets the girl! Can anyone tell me what the kanji are on the girl's red clothes?

Priceless! I've already submitted this up to FARK.... Smile

I also like this one:

Especially the cat woman with the bouncing boobs, and the running o-nigiri boy....

I'll offer my schoolboy explanation.

Kikkoman is a brand of soy sauce.

In Japan, when you buy a bento (packed lunch) they almost always include a small plastic fish containing soy sauce.

Incidentally, soy sauce is "sho yu" in Japanese, hence the "show me, show you" pun during the video. His sidekicks appear to be sugar cubes, and possibly cooking sake.

The poses and images are very typical of Japanese manga and anime (eg standing on the temple as the sun rises, the hanging bunny facing away from you), so it's kind of a send up.

I'd like to know what someone thinks is the meaning of the second cartoon, the one from JimDunlop2 about the running cat.

I'm not 100% sure, but it seems to me like a parody of an ending theme to an anime episode. Running is a popular motif as it's easy to do and you can show lots of characters while the credits roll.
