I have been teaching in the UAE now for two weeks. I am from America. The pay is good, but I feel I could be making more. I feel comfortable here. I fit in perfectly as many assume I am Muslim or speak Arabic. I am starting to research and think about where I want to be when I am done here. I am considering staying in the UAE. But I would definitely like to remain in the ME (not necessarily the UAE). I have a Master of Science in Education (no type of teaching certification) and one year of experience in Korea to add on to my present employment. In terms of finding a better job (in terms of pay) after my current employment, should I obtain some type of teaching certification? If so, are there any that can aid me that I can solely work on the Internet to obtain? I realize that a lot of the better positions desire degrees specifically in English or Linguistics. Or regardless of the teaching certificate, is it simply my lack of long-term experience that will prevent me from obtaining higher pay? Should I seriously consider obtaining some type of teaching certification. I am not interested in going back to school for the certification as I am not sure if I will remain in this field for a long time. Any input on ME countries or employers to look into would be helpful. Information about types of certificates to look into would also help. Lifestyle in terms of strictness is not a concern. So Saudi or a similar country would not be a problem. My main concern is if future experience or certification is the key to better pay in the short-term. Thank you very much for your input.
