I will be leaving China at the end of this month and intend to visit SE Asia before I return home. I obviously don't want to take my big-ass suitcase with me and intend to send it home. However, I went to China Post today and, with the help of a student, asked about sending my stuff home. I was happy to hear it was quite cheap, but unhappy to hear that my suitcase is too damn big and they will be unable to send it.

Has anyone else sent anything huge home? If so, how?

Actually, that first one wasn't just a smart-a**ed reply; didn't you ask China Post about shipping stuff home in their triple-walled, China Post boxes? They're kraft-paper beige for domestic shipping and white for international shipping. At my last school, an Aussie couple who had their first child here sent, I don't know, at least half a dozen large boxes back home. They thought it marvellously cheap and were quite happy.

I am in the same dilemma about how to get all our stuff home before we leave - we have more than a suitcase full. I looked at the Jetta site - but it only talks about posting from Australia. What if you want to ship stuff to Australia. I thought about the post office option, but they only take 20k in each box, and then you have to go through the task of filling out the forms in quadruplicate (at least you do in Wuxi), times about 5 boxes. Has anyone used a shipping company that will come and collect your stuff from your apartment?

Yes

Go to www.sevenseasworldwide.com

They ship suitcases, golf bags, boxes etc within China and around the world. They also have a toll free number, in English. China 4008 81 66 98

Hopefully this will help. I had a quote from them for 2 large suitcases, 2 book boxes and 2 larger boxes for $178.00.
