I am 29 years old, Indonesian, registered Architect now living and working in Guangzhou China for already almost 3 years. I am looking for a job in the same field in Hongkong, and so far some of the Design consultant in Hongkong they only recruit person who has a valid working permit for Hongkong area. They ask me this first, and it seems (for me) very difficult for them to be my sponsor in order to get a working permit. But how to get a working permit without any company who will be my sponsor? A working permit will be issued after a company hire me, not a company will hire me after I get a working permit, I guess? Is it possible for me to get the working permit in Hongkong? Because I am desperate to find a job there.
thank you,
someone in guangzhou |

If I were you, I'd post this on the Hongkong forum, as they probably have a better insight into the visa process there.

Hong Kong is a separate jurisdiction; you will have to satisfy the HK authorities that you can perform a job for which there is no local person available.
That might be quite tricky in your case. In any case, you must be sponsored by a legal HK employer. |
