| It was the same situation back home. People seem to have very different relationships with moneyand how much they spend and how much they consider to be enough. |
Well said and is probably why money issues are quoted as one of the main factors in a struggling marriage.

| A plumber, electrician, carpenter will earn around 3-500 pounds a week after their apprentices...now think the same thing for the normal graduate 180-350 pounds. |
I would say that this is also true in the U.S. Many workers such as plumbers earn more than the average college grads with a BA. Unless you are currently working on Wall Street. In my book middle class usually means pushing paper instead of doing labor more so than the amount of money you earn. |

| I know 'back home' in Vancouver the trades are doing well. You can make some good coin if you're a hard worker. |

| Yes, my brother is a lineman and is making about $6000 U.S. a month. He is only 22 and has been on the job for about 9 months. |

What is the middle-class gross salary in your home country ?
In my home country many middle-class grocers own their own stores and so thier salary only constitutes a part of their total income.
Of course the very upper middle-class grocers such as Mr. Sainsbury, Mr Safeway and Mr Marks&Spencer pay themselves an extremely gross salary indeed,
I hope that helps. |

linguistically speaking there are clearly dedfined definitions of what the different social classes are for accent and dialect analysis.
i.e shopworkers in Bloomingdales etc it is interesting to note that these distinctions are becoming blurred by financial input as opposed to working class, trade, professional and titled |

what is a profession?
What is a job.
What is middle class
Remeber taht was the week that was (1960s)
"I look up to him because he is upper class but I look down on him because he is working class. I am middle class"
there is a lesson plan in here somewhere folks |
