However, some schools have found that female teachers are less likely to screw students, turn up drunk or not at all, etc.
And which several ads? Where are they posted? What schools do they represent? Teachers turn hoe? I think not. Get specific rather than post boosting: over 10 a day now.

I had sent in an inquiry about a job that preferred female teachers, but I had not seen that until reviewing the advert later. Regardless, they contacted me. I told them I was male, but didn't seem to matter to them. Didn't take the job, by the way. |

Super Mario: Don't forget that it's also easier for employers to guilt-trip women into extra classes and to accept less than agreed upon contract terms. I know a couple of schools that prefer women because they get so much more out of the female FTs than the males - who tend to fight every inch of the way.
Cheers! |

A Jew is not supposed to work or to type posts in a forum like this on the weekly Holy of the Holies, the Shabbath! |

Rubbish! I'm know for being far more scary than my male counterparts!
On the other hand, I never turn up late to class due to hangovers, stinking of stale alcohol & looking like I'm auditioning for the part of a tramp.

I'll second that - my FAO ran away from me last week when she saw me coming. She knew I was going to ask her about replacing the pathetic DVD player and fixing my toilet again. She's been promising replacement/repairs for weeks and hasn't gotten around to it. I finally figured out that she thinks/hopes I'm going to skip out on my contract this summer and then she won't have to worry about it as the previous teachers had the same problems last semester and the FAO kept fobbing them off until they left. I have been tempted to go but part of me is staying on just for the students and a much larger part for spite. The DVD players have not worked properly since they bought them for the previous teachers (exact same REFURBISHED second-hand models in both apartments with exactly the same problems) and the toilet has had a slow leak since I arrived 5 months ago - someone was sent to fix it a couple of months back but he just tinkered around, said it was fixed and left. Couple of hours later it started leaking again. I'm writing her a letter to explain that I want them both fixed before the holidays (she has 1 week) or else I am going to go out and buy a new DVD player and bill her personally. I've run out of other options so we'll see what happens. |

You girls are so light, you'd get blown away in the wind here. "I'm going to write a letter..." That's really scary. LOL
Just stop going to class until the matters are repaired. The toilet stuff here is of horrible quality. Metal parts just fall apart after a few months in water. That is another advantage to the squat toilet. Fewer moving parts.
Workmen, once paid, simply run away after doing their hack work. No concept of quality or the self respect that comes from doing a good job.
I made the life of my FAO and his minion absolute hell after I found out what a despicable liar and schemer he was. He might well have lost his job but for another misguided FT who decided to renew after the other FTs were leaving.
I once talked to a guy in prison for second degree murder. He was still dismayed by the stupidity of his victim. They were doing some kind of a drug deal and the guy decided to rob him. The would be robber ended up dead. Said the inmate, "He tried to rob me. I'd been in the army. What was he thinking?"
I'm not suggesting you kill your FAOs. I am suggesting that they will, in one way or another, try to rob you. Be prepared. |

As for me, Lady P, I know of two schools that prefer (older) women because they are easier to guilt into extra (unpaid) duties. It was right from the admin themselves, thank you very much.
As for me (part two): I have never been late, for anything, in 20 years. I have never drank alcohol before, or during, work hours. I have had a grand total of 3 sick days in nine years.
I never have to confront my FAO about anything, seeing as how I can crack a book and fix things myself.
China is still a sexist country when in comes to administration and employment. I was merely stating a point based on my experience. I'm glad that in your experience, you've not encountered this, but it doesn't make your experience the absolute rule, either.
Cheers! |

I have to agree with Sinobear. I do believe on average, women are easier to guilt into extra classes/duties. |

But I have seen the male teachers see their classes as some sort of sex buffets. But at the same time as I say this, I have seen these girls as amazing flirts and leave themselves wide open to exploitation. But if I was a bloke and wanted to appear a bit professional keep it in your pants and get it elswhere. |

People sure do like to generalize around here. This is an older thread, but I missed it the first go 'round.
1. Not all women are these meek, mild creatures that don't want to cause a bother. I've seen some strong female teachers - - hell, they even scared me!
2. Not all men go out drinking every night and come to work still half soused. Some of us don't even drink. Personally, I've never been late to a class - - even one where I was trapped overnight in another city and called in to warn them I may be late -- arrived 15 minutes before class began!
3. I think some advertise only for females because maybe they want them for the younger kids - - maybe a more motherly instinct. I saw one ad before asking for only male applicants due to it being an all male school (or the classes he would teach were all male, don't remember exactly). |
