Ditto... and since the thread entitled 'PNET Interviews' has gone quiet, I presume we are all still waiting - and worrying!
Sorry I can't give you any more news at the moment Sad

Once you are there and have started your contract, you can apply for a salary advance. I don't get the impression it's guaranteed, but I know I will need to apply for it in that first month. You then pay it back over 5 or so months, in smaller amounts. Smile

I sympathise with your situation but you still have time to get there before August 16th.

For my part I applied in February 02, had the interview in April 02 and heard I was accepted in May. I then got the contract in July 02 and had to sign within 3 days! From then on it seemed a paper chase of filling in forms and getting all the necessary documentation.

I actually completed all the forms for my visa but came into the country on a visitor's visa and then went to immigration where my work visa was issued. Some people had not even filled in the visa forms and went through the process when they arrived and then had to go to Macau or Shenzhen to validate it.

So as you can see there is still time for you.

As to the money situation, I remember I found it quite expensive when I arrived as even the hotel demanded a bond to stay a month and there were other expenses. The salary advance was available but it didn't come for a couple of weeks. I have heard of others who found a cheque waiting for them when they got to the school so you might want to mention it after you have signed with your school.

Hang in there as it will happen - as to whether the wait is worth it - that's the luck of the draw!

Very Happy I have been hired! I am an SNET though and my friend who applied for PNET has not heard anything since being told she was being matched with schools. The EMB person she rang late last week told her that the primary school appointments take longer due to the complexity of finding two schools. Stick in there people.

i understand how you feel . I basically never felt better after quitting moe singapore last month. the work load was just getting too much for me to live. i guess it might be different if you are employed only to teach english?

TJ, have you found out about MOE pay scale,---then you can do an apple to apple comparison...i cannot help much but i think an expat's pay is definitely much more than that of a local teacher, lus , if you give a few tuition here and there , you can live like a king...")

I finally got accepted at a school in North Point. I've just spent 4 weeks of insanity completing my CELTA back in Australia. Now I fly to HK tomorrow, go to the school on Wed. morning to sign my contract and fill out visa forms, and then fly out to Vietnam Wed afternoon for 3 weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to change my visa over on my return to HK on August 9. I love flying by the seat of my pants Surprised)

For those who still haven't heard yet: hang in there!

A school in Tin Shui Wai contacted me but I don't think I would be signing a contract with this school because of the remote location. However, I do not want to reject them immediately as I want to see what other alternatives I could get in the coming week. Would this school intruct EMB to pull out my file from the list and result in leaving no other chances for me? Or is it better for me to reject this school right now?
