|
|
A couple of questions for those who know better than I:
What is the income tax rate in Indonesia? Is it a flat rate as some say (and what is that rate)? Or is it on a sliding scale?
A new job I'm starting deducts income tax and says it can escalate to as high as 25 %.
Also, what is the going rate for teaching classes part-time at college level (not a language school)?
Your help will be appreciated. |

most schools dont pay income taxes. and most salaries are quoted as net, with the school being liable for paying taxes. if the school is withholding taxes, they should provide u with your tax id number and receipts for the taxes paid. more info is available at
http://www.expat.or.id/info/individualincometaxes.html
Tax Rates
Taxable Income
Rupiah Rate
Rp 1-25 million 5%
Rp 25 to 50 million 10%
Rp 50-100 million 15%
Rp 100-200 million 25%
over Rp 200 million 35%
I have some friends teaching at uni and they are getting paid 150-250 plus 50,000 transport money. one says he is getting 500,000 per hour. depends on the school and your qualifications. |

Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate it. I admit now I should have known to check that website.
Strangely, this school is quoting a tax rate more than double what is listed at expats. Guess I may have a battle on my hands. |
