Hi,

I will be staying in Mexico City for 3 nights before I catch my connecting flight to Monterrey, and am wondering if anyone can recommend a safe area to stay in the city for a female travelling alone??? If anyone also has any hotels they can recommend which are safe and clean, that would be a great help???

Thanks for your help.

Anything from USD20 - USD40 per night..... I would consider more if this is unrealistic.

HERE ARE TWO SUGGESTIONS: BOTH IN THE CENTRO HISTORICO: CONVENIENT, TRAVELER SAVVY, SAFE, FOR ANY TRAVELER,

1) HOTEL ISABEL: 10 TO 25 USD A NIGHT. http://www.hotel-isabel.com.mx/Default2.htm

2) HOTEL CATHEDRAL: 38 55 USD A NIGHT.

SALUDOS,

hotel principal on calle bolivar 29, about 2 blocks southeast from the torre latinoamerica. really simple rooms for 105, complete rooms for 210. if you're there on a weekend ask for a quiet room since there's a disco next door. tell them mateo el gringo sent you and maybe they will be extra nice. Wink

the whole centro is full of 150-350 peso hotels. it's not the greatest place at night but there is a section that is okay to wander around in and it's convenient to lots of other spots.
